Vale Moçambique sends 1 million tons of coal to port of Beira PDF Print E-mail

The Mozambican subsidiary of Brazilian mining company Vale has so far sent 1 million tons of coal mined in Tete province along the Sena Railroad to the port of Beira, Mozambican newspaper Notícias reported.

Carrying the 1 million tons of coal mined by Vale Moçambique in the Moatize district involved a fleet of 32 trains, 638 rail trucks and a logistics structure including 260 workers.

Figures provided by the newspaper showed that Vale Moçambique, which uses a train with two engines and 42 trucks to carry it coal, thus contributing to improving Mozambique’s balance of trade and its Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

Mozambique governmentt gives Shell nod to buy Cove PDF Print E-mail

Reuters) - Shell (RDSa.L) moved a step closer to acquiring Cove Energy (COVE.L) after Mozambique gave the deal the green light, removing one of the conditions of a takeover which will see the oil major access East Africa's huge gas reserves. 

British oil explorer Cove said on Thursday that it received written confirmation from Mozambique's government consenting to Shell's $1.8 billion (1.1 billion pounds) offer for the company, echoing an announcement by Shell on Wednesday.

Mozambique set to buy 500,000 T oil products: trade PDF Print E-mail

SINGAPORE (Reuters) - Mozambique is set to buy 500,000 tonnes of oil products in the spot market for the second half of this year, traders said on Monday, likely due to the need to secure fuel for back-up power generators to cope with electricity shortages.
